There is something unusually fluid about Saylan. Nothing about its silhouette feels rigid or heavily constructed; the silver seems to move. A warm Yemeni Aqeeq sits at the center, polished into a smooth oval cabochon with remarkable depth. Its color shifts between amber, caramel, and warm reddish-brown depending on the light, and its translucency allows a subtle glow to emerge from within rather than simply reflecting from the surface.
We kept the silverwork deliberately open around it. Instead of surrounding the Aqeeq with ornament, the 925 sterling silver rises from the band in two sweeping lines, curving around opposite sides of the stone. From the front, those lines frame the Aqeeq without closing it in. From the side, the design becomes even more interesting the ring appears almost drawn in a single continuous movement around the finger.
That openness changes the entire character of the piece. It gives a substantial oval stone a lighter, more graceful presence and allows its color to remain completely uninterrupted.
Aqeeq has also held a meaningful place in Islamic tradition for centuries. In Shia tradition particularly, wearing Aqeeq is praised in narrations and has traditionally been associated with blessing and protection.
But what will make someone keep looking at this particular ring is simpler: the stone glows. In softer light it becomes deeper and more subdued; under stronger light, warmth begins to appear from inside it. It is the kind of Aqeeq whose character isn’t revealed all at once.
