Best Eid gift ideas 2022

The festival of Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan or the commencing of the end of Hajj celebrating Eid Al Adha. The day is spent visiting family and friends and enjoying some of the tastiest homemade food, across a variety of cuisines, depending on what part of the world you are from. Food is actually a major part of Eid, so much so that according to Islamic law, it is forbidden to fast on this day – that means you have to eat!

Another significant part of this day is to exchange gifts, known as ‘Eidi’. Traditionally, gifts are given by elder members of the family to the children. This may include money, toys, clothes or perfume based on age of the children.

Gift giving does not need to be restricted to only children. This Eid, you can gift the special people in your life something that is meaningful and shows how much you care about them.

If you’re stuck on inspiration, here are some of our recommendations on the best Eid gifts to give this year.

Eid gifts for her

It’s no secret that shopping is at the bottom of the list of enjoyments for men, which is further made difficult by having to do this whilst fasting! Let us make this task a little easier for you by presenting some great Eid gift ideas for women, be it a spouse, daughter, mother or sister.

Islamic pendants

Many women like to adorn themselves with jewellery, especially on occasions like Eid. This year, you can gift them a jewellery item with an Islamic theme to make it more personable and thoughtful.

A pendant with beautifully inscribed calligraphy is sure to bring a smile to their face. In the Holy Qur’an, the believers are instructed to send blessings on the Prophet (pbuh) as this is the practice of the angels too. In chapter 33, verse 56, it is stated:

Surely Allah and His angels bless the Prophet; O you who believe! Call for (divine) blessings on him and salute him with a (becoming) salutation

When the Prophet (pbuh) was asked how these blessings should be sent, he responded with: Allahumma Salli Ala Muhamad Wa Ali Muhamad (O God, send blessings on the Prophet and his household). So what better than to gift a pendant with this supplication inscribed, which will remind and encourage them to send this blessing more often. It is reported that that for

every blessing sent, God will send the supplicatory ten blessings in return and conceal ten of their faults. With this gift, you’ll be giving more than just a pretty pendant!

You can also browse for pendants in different colours and inscriptions.

Tasbih (prayer beads)

The greatest female role model for Muslim women is Lady Fatima (pbuh), the daughter the Prophet (pbuh), and she was given the greatest gift which is now called the tasbih of Fatima consisting of saying Allahu Akbar (God is Greater) 34 times, Alhamdullilah (praise and thanks belongs to God) 33 times and SubhanAllah (glory be to God) 33 times. It is highly advised to recite this tasbih after each of the five prayers.

The Prophet has described this tasbih as better than the world with everything in it saying to his daughter:

Surely this is better for you than that which you wanted and the world and its belongings

A great way to revive this Sunnah, not only amongst the women of the household, but the entire family is to invest in a beautifully woven tasbih that you can carry with you anywhere. Many often struggle to keep the atmosphere and spiritual ambience of the month of Ramadan alive, once it has passed, and a tasbih can help keep the momentum going post- Ramadan.

Bracelet

An Iranian feroza stone bracelet is a bright and attractive piece of accessory. This gemstone is usually mined in the mountain ranges of Nishapur and its name can be translated to meaning ‘victory’. Apart from looking stylish, it is reported the stone increases your chances of having prayers and supplications accepted. Eid Gifts for him

Shopping for men can be difficult at times, especially with issues around size and fitting and being uncertain about whether he will like it!

You can’t go wrong with our large range of Islamic accessories, with resizing available upon request.

The hadeed chini comes in the form of a ring, bracelet or pendant. Hadeed is an Arabic word which means ‘iron’ in English. The material that is iron is very important and central in Islam, so much so, that God has named a chapter of the Holy Qu’ran after it. Chapter Hadeed is the 57th in the Qur’an and is named so due to the reference to iron in verse 25:

Certainly we sent Our apostles with clear arguments, and sent down with the Book and the balance that men may conduct themselves with equity; and we have made the iron, wherein is great military might and benefits for the people, and so that Allah may make it evident those who support Him and His messengers unseen. Indeed, Allah is Powerful, and Exalted in Might.

It is reportedly recommended to wear iron when going through a difficulty, hardship or if one is about to embark on a journey or project where there may be mischief or hurdles. It is important to note that iron is a purpose built accessory, which should only be worn in circumstances where strength is required, rather than daily or regular use. In this way it is a wonderful element that can be called upon during rainy days.

Aqeeq

There are not many better gifts to give than that of an aqeeq gemstone this Eid. Wearing an aqeeq is a prophetic practice as the Prophet (pbuh) would be seen with an aqeeq ring. There are many benefits of wearing the aqeeq that we have already spoken about.

Eid gifts for children

Children can often be hard to please when it comes to gift giving! They get bored so easily with one toy and are quickly moving onto the next.

If there is a timeless gift that any young child will appreciate, it is the famous zulfiqar sword of Imam Ali (as), which he used in battle to great success.

Its pendant form is a viable option for children, which can be used as a necklace or a bracelet. It is a great way to inculcate the remembrance of the family of the Prophet (pbuh) into young minds.

Eid gifts for neighbour

Islam has placed such a high level of importance to neighbours, to the extent the Holy Prophet (pbuh) said: Gabriel always used to advise me to be generous with neighbours, until I thought Allah (swt) was going to include neighbours as among the heir of a Muslim

Our neighbours are rated so highly by God, that the only thing that separates them from blood relatives is that they are not counted as an heir to a Muslim. Here are some rights our neighbours have over us:

  • We are obliged to protect their interest, when they are absent
  • We are obliged to show them respect, when they are present
  • We are obliged to help them, if they are subject to injustice
  • We are obliged to hide their faults and shortcomings
  • We are obliged to forgive them, if they have done anything wrong

Some scholars of Islam say that a neighbour is includes forty houses in front of a person, forty houses behind him and forty houses on his right and left. If you are able to afford gifts for all your neighbours, kudos to you!

Realistically, we are likely to only know and have relationship with neighbours who are immediately next door to us.

If your neighbour is Muslim, consider giving them the gift and the protection of a dua (supplication), specifically, the dua of Jawshan Kabeer. This dua literally translates to ‘great armour’, and is a prayer that we would have become very familiar with throughout the month of Ramadan.

It is narrated that the Holy Prophet (pbuh) received this dua from angel Gabriel during a battle. At this battle, the Prophet had a heavy armour on, so heavy to the extent that it was hurting him. At this moment, Gabriel asked the Prophet to take of the armour and take the dua as a replacement for him and his Ummah (nation) – indicating that it has just as strong, if not stronger, merits in being able to protect someone. It is reported that whoever recites this dua three times during the month of Ramadan will have the fire of hell forbidden for them.

You can now gift this dua as a scroll inside a pendant to your neighbour, making it a means of protection for them. It is a very affordable and worthwhile investment, and wonderful gesture.

The best gift for eid

Many of us suffer from the post-Ramadan slump, where we often find it difficult to continue our acts of worship and maintain that strong connection made with Allah (swt) throughout the month.

The best gift for Eid is perhaps one that can help the most in overcoming this challenge, that is through the power of the Qur’an using its mightiest verses, Ayatul Kursi, known as the verse of the Throne.

Ayatul Kursi refers to verses 255-257 of chapter Baqarah in the Holy Qur’an, although some say it includes just verse 255. The Prophet has said the following about these holy verses:

For everything there is a pinnacle and the pinnacle of the Qur’an is Surah Baqarah; in it there is an ayah which is the master of the ayaat in the Qur’an, (it is) Ayatul Kursi.

On another occasion, the Prophet (pbuh) has said that if one recites this verse after praying, only death separates him or her from heaven, and the verse has many other protective qualities.

This Eid al-Fitr, give the gift of Ayatul Kursi, a true sign of love and care towards its recipient.

Are you still short on Eid gift ideas?

Some people can be almost impossible to buy for. Maybe they are too fussy, or you are not sure of their size. You know you want to give them something special but cannot decide on what that would be.

If you like what you’ve seen on Al Ali Gems, but cannot make up your mind, consider a gift voucher and put them in full control of what to invest in.

Giving and receiving gifts is a sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh). When you send a gift to a loved one, you will also be rewarded by Allah (swt) for the act. However, this takes on even greater meaning, when gift is Islamic in nature.

By gifting something which helps another Muslim with their acts of worship, such as a Tasbih or a piece of jewelry with inscriptions that remind them of Allah (swt), encourages them to recite Qur’an or dua, a portion of their reward goes to you, as the facilitator of this act!

This is a reward that you will continually receive, and could benefit you for many years to come. This is a promise from Allah (swt) who says in chapter two, verse 245:

Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over? And it is Allah who withholds and grants abundance, and to Him you will be returned.
